Location: 44 rue Chevreul
Year of construction: Early 1900s
Construction type: Single building; ‘Faubourien’ (low cost construction with concrete walls)
Number of dwellings: 14 residential dwellings and 3 commercial properties
Tenure type: Multiple ownership; mix of owner occupiers and private renters
Protected status: The building is close to a protected building. This means that any refurbishment would need special authorisation.
At the beginning of the LEAF project, only one owner in this building was interested in participating in the project. This owner saw involvement in LEAF as a great opportunity to reduce their environmental footprint and save energy. Other owners were then persuaded to join discussions about retrofit given the benefits of installing energy efficiency measures. These included improved comfort and energy ratings, and increased property values.
