Overview: The LEAF project was recently presented at a seminar for the European project, EFFESUS. This project aims to investigate the energy efficiency of historic urban districts across Europe and develop technology and systems for retrofit.
The seminar, held by Historic Scotland and Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, was an opportunity to demonstrate the decision support system developed by EFFESUS. This is a software tool which evaluates retrofitting options using geospatial data. It was also an opportunity to gain feedback from a range of stakeholders whom the model is intended to be used by (including town planners, conservation experts, sustainability consultants and policy makers at municipal and national levels).
The LEAF presentation was delivered by Historic Scotland on behalf of Changeworks, and explored the various non-technical barriers to retrofit. This included the various economic, planning and social barriers that have been discovered through the case studies. Stakeholders gave positive feedback and felt that all of the key issues had been addressed by the LEAF project.
