Date: 2 October 2015, 10:00 – 16:30
Location: Mecure Holland House Hotel, Bristol
Overview: LEAF project partner the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) held a forum on ‘Energy efficiency retrofit in multi occupancy buildings’ which brought together a range of stakeholders to look at current practice, case studies and research, primarily in the UK, with examples from across Europe. The event included sessions on supply, demand, policy and practicalities of retrofit in multi occupancy buildings, with speakers including: Ben Golding, Home Energy Directorate (Department of Energy and Climate Change), David Weatherall (Future Climate), Russell Smith (Parity Projects) and George Chryssochoidis (Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia).
Attendees also participated in a workshop sharing their experiences, developing policy recommendations and providing feedback on LEAF’s technical and engagement toolkits. Bridget Newbery from CSE outlined the delegates valuable contributions:
Key issues identified included the decision making process which leads to improvements being made, shaking up the way the supply chain responds, the long timescales needed to work with multiple stakeholders and the frustrations of short term policies and changing subsidies.”
The comments and feedback will contribute towards the policy recommendation and evaluation reports which will be published on the LEAF website in early 2016.
